Description

T-SP-2, T spindle 2 is an individual T-spindle intended for rotational viscosity measurement of non-flowing samples. The spindle can be used only together with the motorised HELISTAND stand and the matching nut and coupling. The complete T-SP-SET that includes nut and coupling is contained in the HELISTAND set as well as in all ROTAVISC HELI packages. When paired with the HELISTAND, T-spindles are particularly suitable for characterising materials that do not flow under their own weight, such as creams, pastes or gelatin. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer IKA, the T-SP-2 allows laboratories to replace or expand spindle options within an existing HELISTAND configuration. Typical uses include quality-control and formulation work in cosmetics, food technology and pharmaceutical development, where reproducible data on semi-solid and highly viscous products are required. The spindle geometry supports controlled immersion and movement through the sample matrix under the guided action of the motorised stand, delivering consistent results for non-Newtonian systems commonly handled in routine laboratory rheology.

Questions about T-SP-2, T spindle 2

What is this article?

T-SP-2, T spindle 2 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.

A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.

Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
