Description

BOLA filter rods with a pore size of 10 µm are cylindrical filter elements made of microporous PTFE. Each piece is a cylinder machined on all sides, with a diameter of approximately 30 mm and a height of approximately 115 mm. The round geometry is intended to simplify further machining and adaptation to laboratory apparatus. Fabricated from porous PTFE, the rods combine a defined microporous structure with the chemical resistance associated with this fluoropolymer, making them suitable as filter stock for gas- or liquid-handling setups where PTFE media are preferred. The solid cylindrical form can be cut, drilled or otherwise shaped to match specific process or equipment requirements while retaining the stated 10 µm pore size. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 0,12 kg, this laboratory filter rod (Bohlender) is offered for routine lab-material use wherever standardised microporous PTFE rods in the 30 mm × 115 mm format are needed.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about BOLA Filtering Rods, 10 µm Ø 30 x H 115 mm Porous PTFE

What is this article?

BOLA Filtering Rods, 10 µm Ø 30 x H 115 mm Porous PTFE is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
