Description

VitraPOR® biplanar glass filter plate is a borosilicate 3.3 filtration disc with a diameter of 130 mm, porosity grade 2 and a thickness of 8,0 mm ± 0,2 mm. Both faces are ground so that the plate keeps an exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface, giving a dimensionally stable frit element for laboratory filtration assemblies. The defined porosity, controlled thickness tolerance and parallel ground faces support even seating and reproducible mounting when the disc is integrated into filter apparatus or used as a porous glass barrier. As a VitraPOR® component from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, it is supplied as a single piece for users who need a standardized 130 mm biplanar filter plate in porosity 2. Borosilicate 3.3 glass brings the chemical durability and thermal behaviour expected of this material in routine laboratory practice. Ground, plane-parallel surfaces help maintain uniform contact across the full diameter, which aids consistent flow distribution through the frit. Porosity 2 offers a finer grade within this VitraPOR® porosity series for the given diameter and thickness, combining tighter retention characteristics with the mechanical stability of an 8,0 mm disc for laboratory filtration work.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 130 mm, Por. 2 Thickness 8.0 mm ± 0.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
