Description

Filter plate, biplanar, 140 mm, Por. 1 is a VitraPOR® glass filter disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration and apparatus construction. The plate measures 140 mm in diameter, has porosity grade 1 and a controlled thickness of 8,5 mm with a tolerance of ± 0,2 mm. Both surfaces are ground so that thickness is exact and the faces remain plane-parallel, which supports reliable seating and even flow distribution in filtration hardware.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Supplied by manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this biplanar disc is intended for setups that need a defined frit porosity together with tight dimensional control, such as filter funnels, holders or fused glass assemblies accepting a 140 mm plate. Borosilicate 3.3 provides the chemical resistance and thermal behaviour familiar from standard laboratory glassware for aqueous and many organic media under normal lab conditions. Each unit is one piece for direct integration into existing or custom systems.

Porosity 1 sits above the coarsest VitraPOR® grade and is commonly chosen for medium-coarse filtration, clarifying steps or as a support layer according to method requirements. The ground, plane-parallel finish promotes consistent contact and helps minimise bypass when the plate is clamped or sealed.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 140 mm, Por. 1 Thickness 8.5 mm ± 0.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
