Description

Filter plate, biplanar, 170 mm, Por. 2, thickness 9,5 mm ± 0,5 mm is a VitraPOR® sintered glass filter disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration set-ups. The biplanar disc measures 170 mm in diameter and is supplied in porosity grade 2 with a thickness of 9,5 mm (tolerance ± 0,5 mm). Ground faces provide exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface, which helps ensure even contact and consistent performance when the plate is mounted in holders, funnels or specialised glassware. Borosilicate 3.3 contributes the chemical durability and thermal behaviour commonly required in analytical and preparative filtration. Available as one piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this filter plate serves laboratories that specify a discrete porosity-2 frit with controlled geometry rather than a complete filter apparatus. Typical use includes particle retention, support of additional filter layers and gas or liquid contacting where a replaceable glass filter plate of defined porosity is needed.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 170 mm, Por. 2 Thickness 9.5 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
