Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, biplane, Ø 180 mm, porosity 4, is a sintered borosilicate 3.3 disc for laboratory filtration where a finer pore grade is specified. Thickness is held at 9,5 mm with a tolerance of ± 0,5 mm, giving a reproducible stack height for holders, joints and custom glass apparatus. The faces are ground so that thickness remains exact and the working surfaces stay plane-parallel, which promotes even seating, reliable sealing and homogeneous flow through the frit. Porosity grade 4 corresponds to a finer pore structure than coarser VitraPOR® grades and is selected when tighter retention or slower, more controlled filtration is needed. Borosilicate 3.3 construction supplies the chemical durability and thermal behaviour familiar from standard laboratory glass frits. This biplane filter plate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon comes as one piece and suits integration into filtration assemblies, replacement of worn discs and specialised setups that call for a 180 mm porosity-4 VitraPOR® plate. Ground, plan-parallel surfaces support precise alignment in research, quality-control and preparative laboratory environments.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 180 mm, Por. 4 Thickness 9.5 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
