Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate in biplane form is a precision filtration disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. It has a diameter of 190 mm, porosity grade 3 and a defined thickness of 11,5 mm with a tolerance of ± 0,5 mm. Both faces are ground to deliver exact thickness control and a plan-parallel surface, which supports uniform contact, stable mounting and consistent flow in laboratory filter assemblies. The plate is offered as a single piece and is intended for analytical and preparative filtration work where chemically resistant glass media and dimensional accuracy are required. Produced by ROBU - Stereon within the VitraPOR® range, the biplane geometry and tightly controlled thickness simplify integration into apparatus that demand flat, parallel faces. Porosity 3 provides a defined intermediate grade suitable for many aqueous and organic media compatible with borosilicate 3.3. Ground surfaces help maintain reproducible sealing and performance over repeated handling and cleaning cycles in routine laboratory use.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 190 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 11.5 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
