Description

VitraPOR® biplane glass filter plate is a precision-ground porous disc made from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration assemblies. It has a diameter of 220 mm and porosity grade 0, with a thickness of 15,0 mm held to a tolerance of ± 0,5 mm. Both faces are ground to deliver exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface, supporting stable seating and uniform contact in filter holders or custom glass apparatus. Porosity 0 is the coarsest standard grade, suitable for coarse solid–liquid separation, gas distribution or use as a support layer depending on the apparatus design. This filter plate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon is supplied as a single piece for integration into systems that require a large-format VitraPOR® disc with defined geometry. Borosilicate 3.3 provides the chemical durability expected of laboratory glassware in analytical and preparative work. The biplane format and tightly controlled dimensions help maintain reproducible filtration geometry when building or servicing glass filtration equipment.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 220 mm, Por. 0 Thickness 15.0 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
