Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, biplane, is a precision sintered disc for laboratory filtration and separation work. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it has a diameter of 230 mm, porosity grade 3 and a defined thickness of 15,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 0,5 mm. Both faces are ground to deliver exact thickness and a plane-parallel working surface, supporting uniform flow and reliable seating in filter assemblies, funnels and custom glass apparatus. Porosity 3 is suited to medium filtration tasks where controlled particle retention and reproducible throughput are required. The chemically resistant borosilicate 3.3 matrix withstands typical laboratory solvents, acids and thermal stress in routine use. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this biplane filter plate is intended for integration into filtration setups, sample preparation workflows and process glassware that demand dimensional accuracy and stable porous media performance.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 230 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 15.0 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
