Description

VitraPOR® biplanar glass filter plate is a precision filter disc made from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration work. It features a diameter of 290 mm, porosity grade 1 and a thickness of 18,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 0,5 mm, giving a defined porous medium for solid–liquid separation. The faces are ground to achieve exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface, which supports consistent seating and sealing in matching holders or glass apparatus. Offered by manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this large-format plate is suited to setups that specify porosity 1 together with chemical resistance and dimensional stability of borosilicate 3.3. Supplied as one piece, it is intended for integration into filtration assemblies where planarity, controlled pore grade and accurate thickness of the frit are required. Select and install according to the porosity designation and the mechanical design of the surrounding equipment.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 290 mm, Por. 1 Thickness 18.0 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
