Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, 170 mm, porosity 2, is a round sintered disc made from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration work. It has a diameter of 170 mm and a thickness of 13,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 3,0 mm. The surface is untreated and the plate is round and centred, ready for incorporation into glass apparatus or filtration assemblies. Porosity grade 2 defines the pore structure of this disc within the VitraPOR® range, supporting controlled liquid or gas passage through the porous glass matrix. Chemical durability and thermal behaviour follow the well-known profile of borosilicate 3.3, making the plate suitable for routine analytical and preparative setups where a robust frit element is required. Each unit is supplied as 1 pc from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon. The centred geometry and consistent thickness facilitate mounting, sealing or further glassblowing steps without additional surface preparation. This filter plate is intended for laboratories that need a defined porosity disc in a standard 170 mm format for custom or modular filtration systems.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 170 mm, Por. 2 Thickness 13 mm ± 3.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
