Description
PH8500 portable pH meter with GLP data management is a compact handheld instrument for pH, ORP (electrode available separately) and temperature measurement. A silicone protective sleeve and IP57 water- and dust-tight construction make it ideal for field work in harsh conditions. The included 201T-F pH electrode features a low-resistance glass membrane for rapid, accurate readings and an integrated temperature sensor that enables automatic temperature compensation (ATC) over 0 to 100 °C. The meter stores up to 500 data groups with GLP-compliant management (numbering, date, time, value, unit, temperature) and connects via USB to a PC for data download or real-time logging. A large backlit LCD, 1- to 3-point automatic calibration, self-diagnosis and a fold-out stand support efficient laboratory or field use; the BNC interface is compatible with LabSen®-series electrodes. Measuring 88×170×33 mm and weighing 313 g (1,3 kg with case), the complete kit from manufacturer Apera Instruments includes the PH8500 meter, 201T-F electrode, pH calibration solutions (pH 4,00; 7,00; 10,01, 50 ml each), USB cable, USB stick with PC-Link software, screwdriver, manual and carrying case. Power options are three AA batteries or DC 5 V via USB.

Questions about PH8500 Portable pH Meter Kit with GLP Data Management
What is this article?
PH8500 Portable pH Meter Kit with GLP Data Management is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A pH meter reads the electrode and displays pH, after calibration with at least two buffers. A meter that cannot be calibrated is a voltmeter. Resolution to 0.001 is not the same as accuracy. Portable and benchtop meters differ in the electrodes they accept and in the data they store.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
