Description

PORA CA membrane filter is a white cellulose acetate (CA) disc filter with a defined pore size of 0,45 µm and a diameter of 47 mm, intended for laboratory membrane filtration workflows. The PORAFIL CA membrane combines the low protein-binding character typical of cellulose acetate with a uniform pore structure suited to clarifying aqueous samples, buffer preparation and general particle retention at the 0,45 µm cut-off. Each pack contains 100 filters, supporting routine use in analytical, quality-control and research laboratories. The white membrane surface aids visual inspection of retained material during filtration. Supplied as plain, non-sterile discs, these filters fit standard 47 mm filter holders and funnels used across life-science and chemical laboratories. Manufactured by Macherey-Nagel, the PORAFIL CA range offers a consistent cellulose acetate option when a hydrophilic membrane of 0,45 µm pore width is required. Diameter, pore size and material are clearly specified to simplify selection against existing protocols and holder geometries. Ideal for day-to-day sample clarification and particulate removal where cellulose acetate performance is preferred.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA CA, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 47 mm

What is this article?

PORA CA, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 47 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
