Description

PORA NC membrane filters in white are mixed cellulose ester discs made from cellulose nitrate / cellulose mixed ester (CN, MCE), with a pore size of 0,20 µm and a diameter of 47 mm. These PORAFIL NC membranes are intended for particle retention, clarification and sample preparation in analytical and microbiological laboratory workflows that require a fine, defined pore rating. The white surface supports visual inspection of retained material after filtration. Each pack contains 50 pieces for routine use with standard 47 mm filter holders. The membranes are non-sterile and suited to general laboratory filtration rather than aseptic applications. Available from manufacturer Macherey-Nagel as part of the PORAFIL NC range, they offer a consistent membrane structure for research, quality control and process laboratories. The 0,20 µm pore width supports fine particulate removal where reproducible retention is needed. Handle in line with the product safety data, noting the flammable character typical of cellulose nitrate membranes.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA NC, white, PW:0,20 µm, d: 47 mm

What is this article?

PORA NC, white, PW:0,20 µm, d: 47 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
