Description

Low-temperature laboratory thermometer according to DIN 12778, enclosed-scale design, measuring range −200 °C to +30 °C with 1 °C scale division, is a capillary stick instrument for extreme cold laboratory work. The prismatic capillary is blue-luminous and uses a pentane filling appropriate to the cryogenic span. Overall size is 350 mm length by 8–9 mm diameter; the thermometer is built for total immersion and fitted with a Richter closure with knob. It is calibratable and referenced to DIN 12778 for enclosed-form low-temperature thermometers. Available as 1 piece from manufacturer Amarell, the enclosed scale remains protected within the glass body during laboratory handling. Scale unit is °C. The model supports routine monitoring in research, quality-control and process laboratories that need a mercury-free fill and a continuous range from −200 °C up to +30 °C, limited to the stated norm, dimensions, division and immersion characteristics without further performance claims.

This article is part of Laboratory glass thermometers, in Temperature measurement.

What is this article?

Precision thermometer, low temperature, DIN 12 778, enclosed scale, -200+30:1°C, is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Amarell for laboratory use. It sits in Laboratory glass thermometers, inside Temperature measurement, in Lab instruments.

A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column, often with a stated immersion depth, total or partial. The range and the division decide the reading. A partial-immersion thermometer read at the wrong depth is wrong by design.

A thermometer reports a temperature. A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column. A digital thermometer is a sensor and a display, and the sensor, not the display, is what is calibrated. An infrared thermometer reads a surface and depends on emissivity. A data logger stores the reading over time. Without a stated uncertainty and a calibration point, the number is only an indication. The scale is maintained by the BIPM and compared by EURAMET. Accreditation is BELAC.
