Description

PTFE membrane filter discs hydrophobic 142 mm, 0,22 µm are unsupported polytetrafluoroethylene membrane discs intended for larger-scale laboratory filtration. Measuring 142 mm in diameter with a 0,22 µm pore size, these hydrophobic filters suit solvent clarification, gas filtration, venting and sample work where aqueous wetting is undesirable. The plain PTFE membrane without support structure offers wide chemical compatibility and low extractables for consistent performance in analytical and preparative settings. Supplied in packs of 50 pieces from manufacturer Berrytec, the discs are compatible with standard large-format laboratory filter holders used in research and quality-control laboratories. Hydrophobic behaviour prevents wetting by water and aqueous buffers while allowing organic solvents and gases to pass, which is advantageous for aggressive media and moisture-sensitive processes. Net pack weight is 0,16 kg. These membrane filter discs deliver a chemically inert filtration medium without backing layers that could add extractables or change retention characteristics in routine laboratory applications.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PTFE hydrophobic membrane disc filter 142mm, 0,22µm

What is this article?

PTFE hydrophobic membrane disc filter 142mm, 0,22µm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Berrytec for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
