Description
LabSen 551 pH spear electrode is intended for direct pH measurement of semi-solid to solid samples such as soil, culture media, fruits and vegetables. Manufactured with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from APERA Instruments, it features a reinforced PVC housing and a pointed LabSen S-type glass membrane. The low-resistance yet durable tip membrane yields fully stabilised readings within 15 to 30 seconds and is up to 10 times more robust than conventional products, markedly lowering breakage risk during insertion or impact. Polymer electrolyte with a hole-diaphragm structure allows direct sample contact without clogging and requires no refilling. A long-life reference system of glass tube, AgCl and reference silver wire, with cotton packing that prevents AgCl–electrolyte reactions under temperature change, improves reference stability and extends electrode life. Blue gel electrolyte neither flows nor forms air bubbles; the PVC shaft is stable and soil-resistant. Measuring range is 0 to 14 pH at recommended temperatures of 0 to 80 °C. Body dimensions are Ø15 × 90 mm with measuring tip Ø6 × 25 mm. BNC connector and Ø3 mm × 1 m cable ensure compatibility with BNC pH meters; no temperature sensor is built in. Pack size: 1 piece.

Questions about LabSen®551 Professional Combination pH Electrode for Direct Soil pH
What is this article?
LabSen®551 Professional Combination pH Electrode for Direct Soil pH is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in électrodes pH & capteurs, inside pH & électrochimie, in Instruments de laboratoire.
A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
