Description
LabSen 821 pH electrode is a specialised sensor for protein-containing liquid foods, covering the full measuring range of 0 to 14 pH. Built with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from manufacturer APERA Instruments, it is intended for dairy products such as milk, cream and yoghurt as well as other liquid foods including mayonnaise, jam, BBQ sauce and syrup. A silver-ion-trap reference system combined with Protelyte reference electrolyte helps prevent protein blockage or contamination of the diaphragm. The LabSen S-type hemispherical low-impedance glass membrane delivers fully stabilised readings in 15 to 30 seconds and is up to ten times more robust than conventional membranes, reducing breakage risk on impact; it can be used at temperatures from -5 to 100 °C. The blue gel electrolyte does not flow and avoids air bubbles. The lead-free glass shaft measures Ø12 × 120 mm, with a triple ceramic diaphragm and a Ø3 mm × 1 m cable ending in a BNC connector compatible with standard BNC pH meters. No temperature sensor is integrated; automatic temperature compensation requires a separate probe or manual temperature entry. Pack size is 1 pc.

Questions about LabSen®821 Professional Combination pH Electrode for Dairy Products
What is this article?
LabSen®821 Professional Combination pH Electrode for Dairy Products is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in électrodes pH & capteurs, inside pH & électrochimie, in Instruments de laboratoire.
A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
