Description

Bead Genie, 230 V, Swiss plug is a compact bead-mill homogeniser designed for lysing, extracting and homogenising samples with an aggressive vertical mixing motion. Part of the well-known Genie instrument family now offered by manufacturer Ohaus, it combines a solid cast-metal construction with a powerful vertical orbit of 19 mm that resists slipping during operation. Digital speed and timer controls support continuous runs, countdown timing and interval mode, with a working speed range from 500 to 4800 min⁻¹ and LCD/LED display. Tube holders exchange without tools and cover common formats: vertical loading of 12 micro tubes (1,5 or 2,0 ml), six 15 ml or 5 ml tubes, or three 50 ml or 20 ml tubes, plus horizontal loading of 12 micro tubes (1,5 or 2,0 ml). The unit ships with a stable-footed housing, power cable and four holders; disruptor beads are available separately as accessories. Electrical supply is 240 V AC with a Swiss plug configuration. Net weight is approximately 6,038 kg. Ideal for routine molecular and cell-biology sample prep where reproducible bead-based disruption is required.

Questions about Bead Genie, 230V, Swiss plug

What is this article?

Bead Genie, 230V, Swiss plug is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Ohaus for laboratory use. It sits in Vortex mixers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A vortex mixer oscillates a cup so a tube pressed into it spins its contents into a vortex. It mixes a tube in seconds. It does not mix a flask, and it is not a substitute for a shaker when the method says thirty minutes.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
