ACS
Reagent grade of the American Chemical Society. A chemical marked ACS meets that specification for analysis.
Short names on the catalogue. Choose a letter, read the meaning, then open a catalogue number.
Reagent grade of the American Chemical Society. A chemical marked ACS meets that specification for analysis.
Accuracy class AS on volumetric pipettes and burettes. The tolerances are those of class A, with a short waiting time. The S comes from the German schnell. On the 40 ml volumetric pipette the waiting time is 5 s. Where AS is followed by a number, as on a shaker attachment, it is the model name.
ASTM International, the standards body. The mark names the ASTM method the article follows.
British Pharmacopoeia. A chemical marked BP meets that pharmacopoeia.
Deutsches Arzneibuch, the German Pharmacopoeia. A chemical marked DAB meets that pharmacopoeia.
German conformity mark on volumetric glass assessed under the German measurement act. The mark is the letters DE-M in a rectangle.
Deutsches Institut für Normung, the German standards institute. The number after DIN names the standard.
Nominal diameter of a hose or a fitting. DN 8 names that size.
GL 45 is the screw thread on these laboratory bottles. The nominal outside diameter is 45 mm, to DIN 168-1.
High-density polyethylene. A stiff plastic used for caps and bottles.
High-performance liquid chromatography. Filters and columns marked HPLC are made for that method.
Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. These standard solutions are made for that measurement.
International Organization for Standardization. The number after ISO names the standard. ISO 4796 covers laboratory bottles.
Low-density polyethylene. A flexible plastic used for bags.
Nuclear magnetic resonance. The tubes hold the sample for that measurement.
Standard taper ground joint, from the German Normschliff. NS 14.5 names the joint size.
International Organization of Legal Metrology. The class after OIML, such as E1 or E2, is the accuracy class of the weight.
Polymerase chain reaction. These kits clean a sample after that reaction.
Polyethersulfone. A membrane used in these syringe filters.
Perfluoroalkoxy. A fluoropolymer for tubing and vessels.
European Pharmacopoeia. A medium marked Ph. Eur. meets that pharmacopoeia.
Polymethylpentene. A clear plastic that can be autoclaved, used for forceps and cylinders.
Polypropylene. A plastic used for vials and other labware.
Polytetrafluoroethylene. A slippery fluoropolymer used for seals and stopcocks.
Polyvinylidene fluoride. A membrane used in these syringe filters.
Reversed-phase chromatography. These columns separate compounds in that mode.
Solid-phase extraction. The manifold holds the columns while the sample is drawn through.
Thin-layer chromatography. The plates carry the layer on which the sample is separated.
United States Pharmacopeia. On the 40 ml volumetric pipette, USP stands next to accuracy class AS. The pipette is specified to that pharmacopeia. On some tubing, USP Class VI is a biocompatibility class in the same pharmacopeia.
