Compact dimensions make it practical where bench space is limited, while optional battery or rechargeable-battery operation and a light construction support flexible use at several locations. The instrument follows the uniform, convenient Kern operating philosophy, kept consistent across design, menu structure, key functions, interface connection and protocol. For Industry 4.0 workflows the KERN Universal Port (KUP) enables exchange of data and control commands via one interface on the housing or, with a KUP Extension Box, via three interfaces in parallel. Optional interfaces include RS-232, USB, Ethernet, WLAN and Bluetooth. Enquiry and remote control from a computer or CRM/ERP system are supported by the KERN Communication Protocol. Checkweighing allows entry of two upper and two lower tolerance limits via four arrow keys, with optical and acoustic signals assisting portioning, dosing or sorting. Weight values can be totalled, and a protective working cover is included in the scope of delivery.
