Description

BOLA gas dispersion stirrer, four-blade, is a laboratory impeller designed to introduce gas into liquid media during stirring. It combines a PTFE-coated stainless steel shaft with a disc-shaped stirring blade whose four wings are made entirely of PTFE. Clockwise rotation of the shaft creates a vacuum behind the blades, drawing gas from the headspace through the hollow shaft into the medium. Required speed depends on liquid level and immersion depth—for example about 430 rpm at 150 mm and 690 rpm at 350 mm immersion. Shaft and gas-intake tube lengths can be adapted individually. Reliable operation requires at least one baffle. Because only PTFE contacts the medium, the assembly offers broad chemical resistance. This version from manufacturer Bohlender has an overall length of 657 mm, shaft diameter 10 mm, clamping diameter 8 mm and blade dimensions 72 × 12 × 20 × 387 mm, with a net weight of 0,378 kg. It is supplied as one piece for propeller-stirrer setups in chemical and process laboratories.

This article is part of Homogenisers & dispersers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

What is this article?

BOLA Gassing Stirrer with 4 Blades, L 657 mm Ø 10 mm aØ 72 mm Stainless-steel sh is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Homogenisers & dispersers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A homogeniser or disperser uses a rotor inside a stator to tear a sample and disperse it. Tip diameter and speed decide the particle size. A generator for 2 mL and a generator for 1 L are different tools on, sometimes, the same drive.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
