Description

BOLA quick coupling GL 14 is a two-part laboratory quick coupling made entirely of perfluoroalkoxy alkane (PFA) for connecting hoses or tubes via GL threads and BOLA laboratory screw fittings. The design allows fast, simple interruption of flow: when the halves are separated, built-in check valves close the line and reopen only after secure re-locking. The coupling is rated for pressures up to max. 6 bar, vacuum operation at 700 mm Hg, and working temperatures up to max. +200 °C. Only PFA contacts the medium, supporting universal chemical resistance in laboratory fluid paths. Connection thread is GL 14; length without screw fitting is 75 mm. Flow rate with water at 4 bar is 3,2 l/min. This quick coupling from manufacturer Bohlender suits tubing and pipe links that must be opened and closed repeatedly without tools. Net weight is 0,044 kg. Supplied as 1 piece for hose-coupling applications in chemically demanding laboratory environments where a full-PFA GL 14 quick disconnect is required.

This article is part of Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about BOLA GL Quick Connectors, GL 14 with GL Thread PFA

What is this article?

BOLA GL Quick Connectors, GL 14 with GL Thread PFA is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
