Description

BOLA laboratory screw joint with O-ring is a GL 18 fitting intended for tubing with an outer diameter of 1,6 mm (1/16 inch). A red screw cap moulded from glass-fibre reinforced ETFE provides mechanical strength and a secure thread engagement on standard GL 18 laboratory necks. The inner assembly consists of an ETFE clamping ring plus a PTFE sealing wedge and sealing plate; because the hose outer diameter is below 3 mm, an additional O-ring is included that does not contact the flowing medium. Only PTFE therefore meets the process fluid, delivering very good chemical resistance for laboratory solvents, buffers and reagents. Typical uses include fine tubing lines, sample transfer, chromatography-related connections and general apparatus work where an inert wetted path and reliable clamping are essential. The GL 18 format integrates with common laboratory bottles and adapters. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Bohlender, the joint is built around polytetrafluoroethylene sealing components and has a net weight of 0,021 kg. This compact BOLA screw joint supports chemically demanding fluid handling while keeping the media path limited to PTFE.

Questions about BOLA Laboratory Screw Joints with O-ring, GL 18, Ø 1,6 mm Glass-fibre reinforced

What is this article?

BOLA Laboratory Screw Joints with O-ring, GL 18, Ø 1,6 mm Glass-fibre reinforced is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
