Description

BOLA Maxi propeller stirring shafts consist of a PTFE-coated stainless steel shaft fitted with a propeller made entirely of PTFE and carrying three blades inclined at 45°. This variant measures 600 mm in length with a shaft diameter of 10 mm and an outer propeller diameter of 140 mm, giving effective axial flow for laboratory mixing. Blade dimensions according to the manufacturer drawing are 140 mm, 20 mm and 4 mm, with a stirring-blade length of 20 mm. The clamping diameter is 8 mm for secure chuck mounting on overhead stirrers. Because the process medium contacts only PTFE, the design offers universal chemical resistance across a wide range of aggressive reagents and solvents. Net weight is 0,346 kg and the unit is supplied as a single piece. Typical uses include chemical synthesis, sample preparation and process development where gentle yet efficient propeller agitation is preferred. These Maxi propeller shafts from manufacturer Bohlender form part of the BOLA PTFE laboratory stirring programme and suit vessels that require a large, chemically inert propeller geometry.

This article is part of Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

What is this article?

BOLA Maxi Propeller Stirrer Shafts, L 600mm, Ø 10mm, aØ 140mm PTFE-coated Stainl is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A shaft, a propeller or an impeller is the wetted end of an overhead stirrer. The diameter and the pitch decide whether the liquid turns over. The material, stainless steel or PTFE, decides what the liquid may be. The chuck size has to match the stirrer.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
