Description

BOLA Blind Cap Inserts for GL 14 are solid PTFE inserts that convert compatible screw-cone caps into sealed blind closures for laboratory tubing systems. Made entirely of polytetrafluoroethylene, the insert is placed into the cap and locks securely when the cap is tightened, so the medium contacts only PTFE. Cap bore is 6 mm for the GL 14 thread size. The assembly can be taken apart again for cleaning and reuse, supporting hygienic handling of aggressive reagents. These inserts fit replacement screw-cone caps in ETFE and PPS, specifically cap articles D 600-04 and D 634-10. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 0,003 kg, they provide a compact, chemically inert blanking solution for unused GL ports on manifolds, reactors and transfer lines. From manufacturer Bohlender, the BOLA design keeps wetted surfaces fully fluoropolymer-based, avoiding metal or elastomer contact. Suitable for analytical chemistry, synthesis setups and general lab fluid handling where temporary or permanent sealing of GL 14 openings is required without compromising chemical resistance.

This article is part of Screw caps & closures, in Stoppers, caps & closures.

Questions about BOLA Plugs for Screw Caps, GL 14 PTFE

What is this article?

BOLA Plugs for Screw Caps, GL 14 PTFE is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Screw caps & closures, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A screw cap has a thread and a liner. The thread has to match the bottle. The liner has to survive the liquid: a pulp liner fails in a solvent that a PTFE-faced liner ignores. The colour of the cap is not the specification.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
