Description
BOLA Reducers A= Ø 12 mm B= Ø 8 mm are straight PTFE connecting pieces equipped with nuts of PTFE-glass fibre, designed to join hoses or tubes that differ in outer diameter. The process medium contacts only PTFE, ensuring universal chemical resistance in laboratory fluid handling and related applications. Side A uses fitting thread M 28 × 2 for hose outer diameter 12 mm with a 10 mm bore; side B uses fitting thread M 18 × 2 for hose outer diameter 8 mm. This geometry provides a short, straight transition between the two hose sizes while maintaining an inert flow path. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 0,068 kg and manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) by Bohlender, the reducer suits solvent lines, reagent dosing, vacuum connections and general apparatus plumbing where non-metallic, chemically resistant fittings are required. PTFE-glass fibre nuts secure the hose ends without compromising the all-PTFE wetted surface.

What is this article?
BOLA Reducing Unions, A= Ø 12mm B= Ø 8mm PTFE, glass-fibre reinforced PTFE nut is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.
A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.
Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
