Description

BOLA Vario hose couplings are two-part polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) connectors for joining elastic tubing such as Viton®, Tygon® or silicone to hard-walled lines made of PTFE, glass, metal or other plastics. The elastic hose is pushed onto a cone and secured with a union nut; on the opposite side, rigid hoses and lines with an outer diameter of up to 10 mm can be attached via a GL thread and a matching laboratory screw fitting. This version is sized for elastic hose with an inner diameter of 3,2 mm and a wall thickness of 1,6 mm, with a through-bore of 3,2 mm and a GL 14 connection thread. The coupling offers conditional chemical resistance and a maximum working temperature of +150 °C. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Bohlender, the compact unit has a net weight of 0,0126 kg and is suited to laboratory fluid-handling setups that need a reliable transition between flexible elastomer tubing and rigid process lines in research or analytical work where PVDF material properties are required.

This article is part of Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about BOLA Vario Couplings, GL 14, Ø 3,2 mm for elastic tubing with ID 3,2 mm and wall

What is this article?

BOLA Vario Couplings, GL 14, Ø 3,2 mm for elastic tubing with ID 3,2 mm and wall is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
