Description

Portable pH/°C meter HI99192 is a waterproof handheld instrument designed specifically for drinking-water analysis. pH is a key parameter in potable water: values that are too low promote corrosion of pipework and can affect taste, odour and disinfection efficiency. The included FC2153 reinforced glass pH and temperature electrode features a refillable inner electrolyte and a triple ceramic junction set into the glass cone, with Quick-DIN connection and a 1 m cable for a fully sealed, dust- and water-tight link to the meter.

This article is part of pH electrodes & sensors, in pH & electrochemistry.

Operation is deliberately simple—only two keys are needed to adjust settings, select the measuring range and choose calibration points. Automatic one- or two-point pH calibration uses standard buffer sets, with automatic temperature compensation. The multilevel LCD shows the main readings at a glance and indicates electrode condition. An IP67-rated housing protects the electronics in demanding environments. Supplied complete from manufacturer Hanna Instruments with the FC2153 probe, starter calibration and cleaning solutions, batteries, manual and quality certificate in a sturdy carrying case. Measuring ranges cover pH −2,00 to 16,00 and temperature −5,0 to 105,0 °C; the compact body measures 154 mm × 63 mm × 30 mm.

Questions about Drinking Water pH Portable Meter

What is this article?

Drinking Water pH Portable Meter is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
