DURAN® coil condenser with two standard ground joints NS 29/32 and a 300 mm jacket is specialised laboratory glassware for secondary cooling in distillation assemblies. The defining feature is a coiled riser tube enclosed within a coolant jacket, so that the cooling medium surrounds the winding—opposite to the arrangement found in a Dimroth condenser. Despite the long cooling path, condensation capacity remains relatively low; consequently the unit is most often used as an additional condenser placed after a primary cooler rather than as the sole distillation condenser. Vertical orientation is essential for proper condensate drainage along the coil. Two screw-on plastic olives allow quick attachment and removal of coolant hoses while maintaining a tight seal via the standard ground joints.
