Description

DURAN® Dimroth condenser NS 24/29 with a jacket length of 250 mm is a laboratory glass cooler featuring two standard ground joints and two detachable plastic olives for inlet and outlet of the cooling medium. Its internal cooling spiral creates a large surface area and utilises counter-current flow, giving markedly better cooling efficiency than conventional Liebig or bulb condensers. The most common application is reflux condensation: vapours rising from a heated reaction mixture condense on the coil and flow back into the vessel. The same design also serves well for product condensation and distillation. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3 by Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the condenser combines high chemical durability with thermal shock resistance. Detachable plastic olives simplify tubing connection, and the precision ground joints guarantee a leak-tight seal. This 250 mm NS 24/29 model is a special non-DIN size and is supplied as one complete unit for laboratory installation.

Questions about DURAN® Dimroth Condenser, standard ground joints and plastic hose connections

What is this article?

DURAN® Dimroth Condenser, standard ground joints and plastic hose connections is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
