Description

DURAN® Filter crucible 15 ml, porosity 4 is a stemless laboratory filter crucible intended for solid-liquid separation and purification of media under reduced pressure. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3, it incorporates a sintered glass base that functions as the integral filter medium and requires no additional filter paper. The absence of a stem allows the crucible to stand securely, supporting further work such as drying the collected residue directly on the filter in a vacuum desiccator. Its body tapers towards the base, helping to limit potential contamination of the rubber sleeve. Produced by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the crucible utilises the established properties of DURAN® glass—high chemical resistance and excellent thermal shock resistance—together with permanently fired white printing for durable identification. Nominal volume is 15 ml and net weight is 0,02 kg. Typical applications include qualitative analysis, preparative chemistry, vacuum filtration and subsequent processing of the filter residue. Compatible rubber sleeves and filter adapters are available separately. The product is supplied in packs of 10 pieces for routine laboratory use.

Questions about DURAN® Filter Crucible

What is this article?

DURAN® Filter Crucible is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Crucibles, inside Dishes, crucibles & porcelain, in Labware.

A crucible holds a sample in a furnace or over a flame, at temperatures that would soften a borosilicate beaker. Porcelain, platinum and glazed ceramic are different articles. The form, tall or wide, decides how fast a sample dries or ashes.

A dish is an open vessel for drying, evaporating or holding a solid. Porcelain and glazed ceramic take a higher temperature than borosilicate glass, which is why a crucible, not a beaker, goes into a furnace. A watch glass covers, or holds a small amount for drying. A mortar is for grinding. The temperature and the chemical, not the shape alone, choose the material. Laboratory ware of this family is listed under ISO laboratory ware.
