Description

DURAN® Filter crucible 30 ml, porosity 1 is a stemless glass filter crucible designed for solid-liquid separation and purification under vacuum in the laboratory. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, it features a sintered glass bottom that serves as the filter medium without the need for separate filter paper. Because the crucible has no stem it can be placed securely on the bench, enabling subsequent operations such as drying the retained solid residue on the filter inside a vacuum desiccator. The tapered lower section reduces the likelihood of contaminating the rubber sleeve. Supplied by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the item benefits from the well-known chemical resistance and thermal shock resistance of DURAN® glass, complemented by permanently fired white printing. Nominal volume is 30 ml and net weight is 0,031 kg. It is suitable for qualitative analysis, preparative chemistry, filtration at reduced pressure and further handling of the filter cake. Matching rubber sleeves and filter adapters can be obtained separately. The crucible is offered as a single piece for flexible laboratory stocking.

Questions about DURAN® Filter Crucible

What is this article?

DURAN® Filter Crucible is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Crucibles, inside Dishes, crucibles & porcelain, in Labware.

A crucible holds a sample in a furnace or over a flame, at temperatures that would soften a borosilicate beaker. Porcelain, platinum and glazed ceramic are different articles. The form, tall or wide, decides how fast a sample dries or ashes.

A dish is an open vessel for drying, evaporating or holding a solid. Porcelain and glazed ceramic take a higher temperature than borosilicate glass, which is why a crucible, not a beaker, goes into a furnace. A watch glass covers, or holds a small amount for drying. A mortar is for grinding. The temperature and the chemical, not the shape alone, choose the material. Laboratory ware of this family is listed under ISO laboratory ware.
