Description

DURAN® glass stopper, amber, with standard ground joint NS 12/21 and octagonal head is a solid laboratory closure designed to seal glassware such as flasks, separatory funnels or reagent bottles with ground joint necks. The Standard Taper ground glass joint creates a tight, leak-proof seal; grease should be used for heating or vacuum work. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3 by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the stopper carries an external amber coating that delivers UV protection together with long durability and good chemical resistance of the brown colouring. Consisting only of glass components, it is suitable for aggressive materials. The octagonal head ensures secure handling. Typical applications include storage of light-sensitive reagents, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, as well as air-sensitive reagents and hygroscopic solids, granules and powders. A temperature difference exceeding 30 °C with soda-lime glass bottles may cause the stopper to stick. Net weight is 0,01 kg per piece; the product is packed in units of 10.

Questions about DURAN® Glass Stopper, amber, with standard ground joint, octagonal

What is this article?

DURAN® Glass Stopper, amber, with standard ground joint, octagonal is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Ground-joint glass stoppers, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck of a stated joint size. A 14/23 stopper does not seal a 29/32 neck. The stopper is part of the flask's seal, and a chip on the grind is a leak.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
