Description

DURAN® glass stopper, amber, with standard ground joint NS 24/29 and octagonal head is a solid laboratory closure for securely closing glassware items such as flasks, separatory funnels or reagent bottles that have ground joint necks. The Standard Taper ground glass joint forms a tight, leak-proof seal; grease is advised for heating or vacuum applications. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3, this stopper from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences features an external amber coating providing UV protection, long durability and good chemical resistance of the brown colouring. Being composed solely of glass components, it is appropriate for the storage of aggressive materials. The octagonal head offers a firm grip. Applications cover storage of light-sensitive reagents, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, air-sensitive reagents and chemicals, and hygroscopic solids, granules and powders. Care is needed with soda-lime glass bottles when the temperature difference exceeds 30 °C to avoid sticking. Each stopper has a net weight of 0,05 kg and is supplied as a single piece.

This article is part of Ground-joint glass stoppers, in Stoppers, caps & closures.

Questions about DURAN® Glass Stopper, amber, with standard ground joint, octagonal

What is this article?

DURAN® Glass Stopper, amber, with standard ground joint, octagonal is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Ground-joint glass stoppers, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck of a stated joint size. A 14/23 stopper does not seal a 29/32 neck. The stopper is part of the flask's seal, and a chip on the grind is a leak.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
