Description

DURAN® Long Ground Joint Cone, ground, NS 24/40 is a precision conical joint core made from borosilicate glass 3.3 and designed especially for demanding laboratory applications. The extended ground surface offers a larger sealing area, making the long-joint variant particularly suitable for high-vacuum work. A finer grind quality with reduced roughness depth ensures reliable sealing performance when the joint is properly prepared with grease or PTFE sleeves. This glass article is supplied ready for further processing and incorporation into custom glass apparatus and devices. The standardised ground joint geometry provides a dense, self-supporting connection that can be secured with complementary KECK™ conical joint clamps. Available as a single piece with a net weight of 0,036 kg, the component from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences supports assembly of laboratory glassware where extended joint length and high-vacuum capability are required. Typical uses centre on high-vacuum systems and the construction of specialised glass apparatus and equipment.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Long Ground Cone, finished

What is this article?

DURAN® Long Ground Cone, finished is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
