Description
DURAN® measuring cylinder with hexagonal base, class B, low form and white graduations is designed for receiving and simultaneously measuring different liquid quantities in the laboratory. This 25 ml cylinder is manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 in a compact low form and carries clear line graduations together with a durable white scale. Volume tolerances correspond to the error limits specified by DIN and ISO for measuring and mixing cylinders of accuracy class B. Calibration is performed to contain (“In”) at the reference temperature of +20 °C. A large hexagonal base fitted with three knobs on the underside ensures excellent standing stability and prevents the cylinder from rolling away. Uniform wall thickness across the entire measuring range eliminates wedge errors, while the fired-on white print remains permanently legible. The easily readable scale with line graduation supports precise content determination. Typical applications include measuring liquid volumes, diluting solutions, mixing several components and general volumetric work. This measuring cylinder from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is supplied as a single piece. To preserve long-term volumetric accuracy, the glassware should not be heated above +250 °C in a drying oven or sterilizer.
This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, low form, white scale
What is this article?
DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, low form, white scale is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
