Description

DURAN® measuring cylinder with hexagonal base, class B, white graduations and line graduations is designed for receiving and simultaneously measuring different liquid volumes. Featuring a nominal volume of 250 ml, the cylinder is produced from borosilicate glass 3.3 and incorporates a large hexagonal foot with three bottom knobs that provide excellent stand stability and stop the vessel from rolling. Consistent wall thickness throughout the measuring range prevents wedge errors, and the burnt-in white printed scale ensures permanent durability together with clear readability. The cylinder is calibrated to contain (“In”) at the +20 °C reference temperature; volume tolerances correspond to accuracy class B as defined by DIN and ISO standards for measuring and mixing cylinders. It is well suited for measuring liquid quantities, diluting solutions, mixing several components and volumetric procedures. Available from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, these glass products should not be heated above +250 °C in a drying oven or steriliser so that longevity is maintained and possible volume alterations are avoided. The combination of robust hexagonal base, permanent white line graduations and class B precision supports reliable routine laboratory work.

This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, white scale, with graduation

What is this article?

DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, white scale, with graduation is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
