Description

DURAN® mixing cylinder 500 ml with hexagonal base is a class A volumetric vessel featuring blue graduations and a batch certificate. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3, it is intended for diluting solutions and for mixing several components in defined quantitative ratios. Accuracy class A is marked by the blue scale with main-point ring graduation; volume tolerances follow the error limits of DIN and ISO. The cylinder is adjusted to contain (“In”) at the +20 °C reference temperature. Uniform wall thickness over the entire measuring range prevents wedge errors, while the large hexagonal foot with three base knobs provides firm standing stability and stops the cylinder from rolling. An ergonomic polyethylene stopper and the NS 34/35 standard ground joint give a dense, reliable seal for rapid and safe opening and closing. The blue graduation print is fired on and therefore permanently durable and easy to read. Batch-certified class A mixing cylinders from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences are supplied with a certificate that records the batch mean, standard deviation and issue date; certificates are also available online. Typical uses include measuring liquid volumes, diluting solutions, multi-component mixing and general volumetry. To preserve long-term dimensional accuracy these glass instruments should not be heated above +250 °C in a drying oven or sterilizer.

Questions about DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate

What is this article?

DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Mixing cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A mixing cylinder is a graduated cylinder with a stopper, so a dilute solution can be shaken in the vessel it was measured in. It is coarser than a volumetric flask and more convenient when many dilutions are made by hand.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
