Description
DURAN® Petri dish, pressed, without division, Ø 100 x 15 mm is a flat, round, transparent culture dish with lid manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 for cultivating microorganisms on gel-type nutrient media. After the medium solidifies, microbial populations remain spatially separated so that larger colony aggregates can develop under controlled conditions. A specialised pressing process yields even medium distribution and a distortion-free optical path for observation and microscopy. The lid rests directly on the base, limiting air turbulence above the culture surface; this geometry is advantageous for long incubation times, elevated temperatures or sensitive media. Typical applications include growth and cultivation of microorganisms, culture on solid gel media, simultaneous work on different nutrient bases under identical conditions, microscopic examination and general cell-culture tasks. These dishes from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences combine the chemical and thermal resistance of borosilicate glass 3.3 with practical handling characteristics. The undivided interior offers a continuous growth surface. Supplied in packs of 10 pieces for routine microbiology and cell-biology workflows.

Questions about DURAN® Petri Dish pressed
What is this article?
DURAN® Petri Dish pressed is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Petri dishes, inside Culture media & microbiology, in Microbiology lab supplies.
A Petri dish is the shallow lidded plate agar is poured into, or a sample is placed in. Diameter and whether it is vented, and whether it arrives sterile and empty or already filled, are the choices. A 90 mm dish is the ordinary one. Slippable lids and vented lids differ in how they dry a plate.
A culture medium is the food and the solid or liquid home of a microorganism. Dehydrated media are powders the laboratory dissolves and sterilises. Ready-to-use plates and tubes are already that. A Petri dish is the plate. Selective media let one kind of organism grow and hold another back. The formulation and the supplements, not the colour of the agar, are the specification. Reference strains are at ATCC. Methods are on PubMed. Biosafety practice is the WHO laboratory biosafety topic.
