Description

DURAN® cone, DG-ground NS 19/26 is a conical ground-joint core that creates a rigid, self-supporting connection when mated with a matching socket. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3, the component combines chemical durability with the thermal performance expected in laboratory glassware. Its diamond-ground finish yields a coarser grind quality and greater surface roughness than finely ground alternatives, making it a cost-effective option that is not manufactured to DIN 12249. For a dense seal the taper joint should be used with joint grease or PTFE sleeves; KECK™ conical joint clamps provide secure retention of the assembled connection. Supplied as a glass article for further processing, the cone is intended for incorporation into glass apparatus and laboratory devices. This NS 19/26 component from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences supports reliable assembly work wherever standard ground-joint geometry is required without the premium finish of DIN-compliant cores. Pack size is one piece with a net weight of 0,026 kg, suited to analytical and preparative glass constructions.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Cone diamond-ground

What is this article?

DURAN® Standard Cone diamond-ground is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
