Description

DURAN® Cone, ground NS 19/26 is a tapered ground-joint cone produced from borosilicate glass 3.3 and represents the most common connection type in laboratory glass apparatus construction. Manufactured to DIN 12249 Form B, these ground cones meet higher requirements for surface roughness depth. The finer grind quality reduces the risk of joints seizing and lowers the amount of joint grease needed for a reliable seal. The cone-and-socket assembly forms a rigid, self-supporting connection that provides a tight closure when correctly prepared. Ground-joint connections should always be used with joint grease or PTFE sleeves; KECK™ conical joint clamps offer the ideal means of securing the assembled joint. Available as a glass article for further processing from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the component is intended for installation in glass apparatus and devices. Supplied as a single piece with a net and gross weight of 0,026 kg, this NS 19/26 cone is well suited to standard laboratory glassware builds that demand DIN-compliant ground joints and dependable sealing performance.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Cone finished

What is this article?

DURAN® Standard Cone finished is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
