Description

DURAN® cone, ground NS 24/29 is a conical ground-joint core representing the most common connection type in laboratory glass apparatus construction. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it provides chemical durability and thermal performance suited to everyday glassware assemblies. The component conforms in design to DIN 12249 Form B and features a finely ground surface with reduced roughness depth, which lowers grease demand and decreases the risk of joint seizure. For a dense seal the taper joint should be used with joint grease or PTFE sleeves; KECK™ conical joint clamps offer reliable securing of the mated connection. Supplied as a glass article for further processing, the cone is intended for incorporation into glass apparatus and laboratory devices. This NS 24/29 component from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences supports precise, low-maintenance assemblies where DIN-compliant grind quality and reduced jamming tendency are required. Pack size is one piece with a net weight of 0,035 kg, ready for integration into analytical and preparative glass systems.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Cone finished

What is this article?

DURAN® Standard Cone finished is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
