Description

DURAN® ground cone NS 71/51 is a precision-ground male taper joint for laboratory glass apparatus construction. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3, it conforms to DIN 12249 Form B and meets elevated requirements for surface roughness depth. The finer ground finish reduces joint-grease demand and lowers the risk of seizing between mating surfaces. Ground connections are intended for use with joint grease or PTFE sleeves; KECK™ conical joint clamps provide a practical means of securing the assembly. Supplied as one piece with a net weight of 0,241 kg, the cone is a glass article for further processing and integration into apparatus. This DURAN® component from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences delivers a dense seal through the standardised ground joint and is routinely built into glass instruments and devices. Its accurate NS 71/51 geometry supports reliable interchangeability in synthesis, distillation and analytical set-ups where consistent taper connections are required.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Cone finished

What is this article?

DURAN® Standard Cone finished is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
