Description
DURAN® DG ground joint socket NS 29/32 is a diamond-ground conical socket for laboratory glass apparatus. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3, it provides a coarser grind surface with greater roughness depth and serves as a cost-effective alternative to finely ground DURAN® sockets. The component is not manufactured to DIN 12249 yet still forms a rigid, self-supporting conical joint when mated with a matching cone. A dense seal is achieved via the standardised ground joint; joint grease or PTFE sleeves should be applied, and KECK™ conical joint clips are recommended for secure retention. This socket from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is supplied as a glass article for further processing and is particularly suited to high-vacuum applications as well as general incorporation into glass assemblies and devices. Net and gross weight are both 0,06 kg. The diamond-ground finish offers reliable performance where a more economical ground-joint solution is preferred without compromising basic sealing integrity.
This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Socket diamond-ground
What is this article?
DURAN® Standard Socket diamond-ground is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.
A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.
Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
