DURAN® ground socket NS 24/29 is a conical ground-glass joint component manufactured to DIN 12249 Form E for laboratory apparatus construction. The finely ground surface offers reduced roughness depth compared with coarser finishes, which lowers the amount of joint grease required and decreases the risk of joints seizing. Conical ground joints remain the most common connection method in glass apparatus building; this socket forms the female half of a rigid, self-supporting seal when mated with a matching cone. Produced from borosilicate glass 3.3 by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the DURAN® ground socket delivers a very low leak rate and a dense closure once grease or a PTFE sleeve is applied. KECK™ conical joint clips are recommended as a complementary securing aid. The article is supplied as a single piece (net weight 0,052 kg) and is intended for incorporation into glass apparatus and instruments.
