Description

VitraPOR® biplanar glass filter plate is a precision sintered disc in borosilicate glass 3.3, diameter 140 mm, porosity grade 3 and thickness 8,5 mm ± 0,2 mm. Ground faces yield exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface for reliable seating in laboratory filter assemblies. Porosity 3 suits finer solid–liquid separations and support duties where a tighter pore class than coarser grades is preferred. The rigid glass body withstands typical chemical and thermal conditions of borosilicate 3.3 apparatus and can be cleaned and reused in many workflows. Supplied as one piece, the 140 mm plate is intended for custom holders, process glassware or filtration setups that specify a biplanar disc of controlled geometry. From manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, VitraPOR® plates combine defined porosity with mechanical flatness for uniform flow distribution. Plane-parallel ground surfaces aid sealing against flanges and gaskets. Suitable for research, preparative chemistry and quality-control filtration where a durable, binder-free glass filter element with porosity 3 and tightly toleranced 8,5 mm thickness is required.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 140 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 8.5 mm ± 0.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
