Description

pH electrode, glass, for sludge and soils (S7) is a glass electrode intended for pH measurement in sludge and soils. The sensor combines an Ag/AgCl reference system with a liquid, refillable electrolyte solution (3 M KCl/AgCl) and a ceramic diaphragm. It covers a measuring range of pH 0–14 and may be operated up to a maximum working temperature of 80 °C. Dimensions are 12 × 120 mm, offering a practical geometry for immersion in denser or heterogeneous samples. A permanently attached cable of 1 m length completes the assembly for meter connection. This single-piece electrode from manufacturer Labbox is aimed at laboratories handling environmental, soil and process samples where clear aqueous media are not the norm. Refillable reference electrolyte and a ceramic junction support stable pH readings across the stated range during routine work with sludge and soil preparations.

What is this article?

Glass body pH electrode, for slurries and soil measurements (S7) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
