Description

GroStar™ GS2 pH pocket meter for soil samples is a robust handheld tester designed for pH and temperature measurement in soil, nutrient solution, coco, rockwool and many other growing media. It covers pH from 0,0 to 14,00 with 0,1 resolution and ±0,1 accuracy, plus temperature from 0 to 50 °C with 0,1 °C resolution and ±1 °C accuracy, featuring automatic temperature compensation and automatic 1- to 3-point calibration. The replaceable Swiss LabSen pointed glass electrode is impact-resistant and approximately ten times stronger than conventional glass electrodes; a PTFE ring helps prevent diaphragm clogging by soil particles and markedly improves durability. Premium sensor technology, intuitive operation and a large three-colour backlit display support clear, reliable readings. The IP67 waterproof and floatable housing runs on four AAA batteries with auto-off. Dimensions are 40×40×178 mm and weight is 133 g. The complete set from manufacturer APERA Instruments includes the meter with pointed electrode, pH 4,00 and pH 7,00 calibration solutions (50 ml each), 10 ml 3M KCl storage solution, plant wedge, cleaning brush, carrying strap and manual, with a two-year manufacturer warranty (one year on the electrode).

Questions about GroStar™ GS2 pH Pocket Meter for Soil Samples

What is this article?

GroStar™ GS2 pH Pocket Meter for Soil Samples is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH meter reads the electrode and displays pH, after calibration with at least two buffers. A meter that cannot be calibrated is a voltmeter. Resolution to 0.001 is not the same as accuracy. Portable and benchtop meters differ in the electrodes they accept and in the data they store.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
