HABITAT photo ferment S003 is a control unit package fitted with a Swiss plug and LED light panels that convert a HABITAT Research bioreactor into a dedicated photobioreactor. The tower integrates gas supply, liquid addition, sensor inputs, temperature control and a 10,4-inch tablet for clear supervision of light-assisted fermentation. Precise illumination and optimised culture conditions enable microbial metabolic routes used to generate pharmaceuticals, vitamins and beneficial metabolites. Operators choose among batch, fed-batch and perfusion/continuous strategies; chaotic mixing provides effective homogenisation when needed. Four independent mass-flow controllers supply N2, O2, air and CO2 at 0,1–20 L/min, with cascade control automatically maintaining target gas levels. Four bidirectional Watson-Marlow pumps accurately dose acids, bases, antifoam and nutrients. Standard sensors include pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, level and foam, with optional extensions available. Integrated PID control maintains temperature for single- or double-walled glass vessels using a heating jacket, cooling finger or external thermostat (5–80 °C).
